Tsikoudia or Raki, is the drink that, for centuries, is made exclusively in Crete.
It is the favorite drink of the Cretan people. The invitation, “come home for a Tsikoudia” is characteristic of the Cretan people’s hospitality.
Tsikoudia is produced from grapes, and has a distinct taste and aroma.
Tsikoudia is offered as an aperitif, a shot, or boiled with honey (Rakomelo) and can be added in some cocktails, it is, also, the best remedy for the digestion, after a rich meal.
In summer, it may be served chilled and its cool flavor is very refreshing.
